L / A CHARTER COMMISSION @ USE “BATES COLLEGE STUDENTS” AGAINST HOMETOWN COMMUNITY RESIDENTS; in effort to get Bates College Student to spread door-door-campaign-literature message of “YES” and to “Vote” for “CONNECTS-IT” and Consolidation of Lewiston + Auburn, Maine. I attended Charter Commission Meeting of 26 June 2017 @ 6 p. m. in Lewiston, Maine’s City Hall. There was a lot of Side stepping talking; as, I was there. Is the utilization of students; college or high school out-of- bounds ?

26 Jun

The fact is that Bates College Student can vote on just their; School Identification and a piece of mail to them at Bates College.

The Student that participate in Lewiston Elections do not change their Dirver License, College Financial Forms or Auto registration.

They, just register and some on the same day of the election. As, the college is situated and students live in Lewiston, Maine’s Wards 1 and 3 their estimated voting numbers out pace the Lewiston, Maine Residents of Wards 1 and 3.

Now, I remember voting at 18 and I do not take issue with their Voting. It is with the fact that they do not have a vested financial interest in Lewiston, Maine other than Mr. Chin. Who, by the way; has lived in Lewiston, Maine for on or about 6 years and is a graduate of Bates College.

Thus, the votes from Bates College student’s is heavily favored to go to Mr. Chin possibly and that number could reach 15 hundred. Which, puts other student at a substantial disadvantage.

Then, there is the money issue, last election Mr. Chin had over $95 thousand dollars in donations to win a $4200 hundred dollar Lewiston mayoral salaried job. And then again Mr. Chin saves over $10 thousand dollars from the last election (2015) to use in this the 2017 election.
