A new to Lewiston, Maine “Neighborhood First Initiative” as to the quality of life policing issues facing a crime besieged city is being launched now that Lewiston, Maine police force is all most at full strength in regard to manning level was released to the press last Friday.
The non-policing of the “Cities Crime Hot Spots” has been evident for the last 30 years.
So, what’s the big deal?
Prostitutes, drug dealers, and home invaders are still predominant in the areas of Cedar, Lincoln, Lisbon, College, Sabattus, Webber, Ash, Pine, Pierce and Walnut, Blake, Oak, and Walnut Streets.
This is evident after dark throughout the so-called “Red Zone” (a military term indicating unsafe passage) you will rarely see a Lewiston, Maine police car patrolling these areas throughout the dark hours even once an hour.
People of the areas described above in the City of Lewiston, Maine live in fear 24/7…

19 MarUpdate – A vast difference has occurred for the good this past week; as, to the advancement of policing by the program “Neighborhood First Initiative” in Lewiston, Maine policing. Now, let us hope it continues.
A new to Lewiston, Maine “Neighborhood First Initiative” as to the quality of life policing issues facing a crime besieged city is being launched now that Lewiston, Maine police force is all most at full strength in regard to manning level was released to the press last Friday.

Individuals have informed of individuals intimidating the old through a home invasion, being beaten into submission, and being robbed by prostitutes with police just riding by.
The fact that the Androscoggin County Commissioners are squandering millions of dollars to facilitate the miscreants of the area that refuse to seek employment / mental health or education is puzzling to all.
Instead of instituting a fully functioning facility to house, aid in getting a job, seek rehabbing from drugs, or get out of prostitution. They give millions to organizations; that, squander the funds by building new building “Trinity Soup Kitchen” facilities that is open 8:30 am – 3:00 pm instead of rehabbing a building already constructed in an area not near an elderly housing project.
The City of Lewiston, Maine is in need of its own “Lock Up Facility” in which individuals will be held for 72 hours and then transferred to the County Jail System in one of the abandoned mill buildings.
This new Initiative sounds good; but, like others, only sounds good. And, it is my feeling that it was initiated for “GOOD LOOKs IN NEWSPAPER” only.
