*BLAST FROM THE PAST: On 23 May 2016, LEWISTON, MAINE SUPERINTENDENT OF SCHOOL’S; stated to MR. Charles A. Soule, that if the New School did not pass on 14 June 2016 vote; he (Mr. Webster) would adhere to the wishes of the 70 % of Lewiston Teacher’s that opted for rehabilitation of the Governor James B. Longley School.

24 May

At the 24 May 2016 Lewiston, Maine City Council; voted on the school budget; to accept a “No difference in Amount” school budget to pass to Lewiston, Maine voters on 14 June 2016 with no significant changes.  Votes were as follow:  Ward (1) Yes –  Mr. Lysen, (2). NO, (3) yes – Ms. Golden, (4) NO, (5) yes – Ms. Cloutier, (6) yes – fix problems later ? Ms. Beam, (7) NO.    Measure passes: 4 yes; 3 no.   SLAP in the FACE to Lewiston, Maine Residents that voted to defeat the Lewiston School Budget on 10 May 2016.

I thought; I heard the sound s of chains being broken as to ” Back to Basic’s ”  schooling, challenging of non financed Federal and State Mandated to the Lewiston Community; as well as, Title one (1) mandates last night initiated by the Honorable Lewiston School Committee Member’s  Mr. White, Mr. Roy and Mr. Martin.

But, the Lewiston School Administration used leverage to strong arm the Lewiston School Committee; in that it had already printed the  ” Nay ” or ” Yea “; 14 June 2016 People’s Vote on the Fiscal 2017 School revised Ballot Initiative without knowing if the Lewiston, Maine School Committee would approve it at the 23 May 2016 Lewiston School Committee Meeting to be submitted to the Lewiston, Maine City Council on 24 May 2016; and was pressure exerted not to appear foolish and pass the Fiscal year 2017 budget.

It is my resolve, that an afront to the Voting Population of Lewiston exist; and, ask voters to reject the Lewiston Maine School Revisited Budget on 14 June 2016 and should stand fast with the aforementioned members of the Lewiston School Committee that believed the the process required more review and public input and that the concession of $19,000 to placate the voting public that upheld a “Nay” vote on 10 May 2016 after eight (8) year of approving it and now on 14 June 2016 at your voting Ward should vote “NO” on all three (3) Lewiston, Maine School Initiatives.

Secondly,  was the number of School Committee Meeting held all two  (1) special meeting and other (2) regular meeting of the Lewiston, Maine School Committee ample?

And were these meetings sufficient for good government; as, it did not allow for full resident input or participation ?
